About Me

Hello and Thanks for stopping by

My name is April and I'm the author/baker/photographer on this blog. I don't proclaim to be an expert on baking or cooking I just really, really did I already say really? :-) LOVE to bake (well I do!). So this blog will be my personal journey of experimenting with new recipes and ideas. I started baking very young, I made my mother a cake (box mix) for Mother's Day when I was 8-9 yrs. old. She really loved it and she was so proud she told everybody!! So me being me (the daughter that seeks her praises!) I wanted to bake all the time!!! So the more I baked the more I loved it!! You can put butter, sugar, eggs, flour and vanilla (that should be the food pyramid?!)  together and always make something delicious!! and I just loved the way you can make a dessert and people would just love you!! So I continued to bake off and on for many years never anything serious.... Until June of 2006, reading a magazine, a reader wrote about taking cake decorating classes at a local craft store, bells and whistles went off in my head (that really happens sometimes?!?) like hey I should do that, and I took one class and thought I knew everything!? So I started baking cakes for anybody that would take one! Soon, people were asking me how much for a cake! (ME?) You want to pay me for doing what I love to do, wow! So I have been baking for a couple of years now, but I stay in a very tight circle of comfort (no 3-D cakes, no fondant, nothing too fancy!) But that is where this comes in.

I want this blog to be about me jumping out of this so comfortable circle (I mean Tempur-Pedic comfort!) and trying everything from breads, purse cakes, wedding cakes (4-7 tiers), fancy cakes (too pretty to cut) and everything in between!! You will see my successes and my failures.  I just really found out about food blogs and this is my new heaven!! I have an addiction gene I think? Because when I start something new I jump in not head first, whole body first!! In the 2-3 months since I starting stalking  following food blogs I have purchased 16 (yes I said 16!) cookbooks (Don't tell the other half) so I have a lot of recipes to try-out...

Okay, I didn't say I was a English Professor, did I??? NO, so there will be grammatical errors, punctuation mark errors, run-on sentences and fragment sentences?!?! This blog is about my adventures in the kitchen baking and occasionally throwing in some real food... I will always be correct about the measurements and spelling (things that really count in this world).. So please don't fault me because of my grammatical errors....

Thank you and please follow along on this journey!
